A Day of Hope (Helping Other People Effectively)Click here for All-Event FlyerWe Are Christ Day, St. Thomas, ON, Saturday May 29th, 2010
The day begins with Registration at 10AM at St. Joseph's High School on Fairview Avenue. A prayer & worship rally and commissioning service will start the day off. Events start at 1PM, following lunch. The afternoon will be spent with teams going to specific places to be the hands, feet and heart of Jesus. Here are the projects we are planning to offer as part of St. Thomas' We Are Christ Days on May 29th, 2010: The Joshua and Caleb TeamsJoy BringersThis team would like to bring joy and caring love into the lives of 50 home-bound seniors. The visit will take about 45 minutes and a package of small gifts will be left with these individuals. Hope Outlet and SpaThis is a free store where new items will be available to shop for. Then, the attendees can be enjoy refreshments and some pampering at our spa (manicure, pedicure, massage). Work Team (Haggai 1:8)We will be doing renovations, repairs, cleaning and yard work for those in need of help, anything to help improve people's homes. WE are looking for people who are willing to stop working on their homes for that weekend, and instead, work on the homes of others, so that the Lord may take pleasure in this and be honoured. If you have a skill (carpentry, roofing, flooring, painting) please let us know, so we can plan for our projects. There will be lots of jobs for the general hard worker, too! Staging HopeThis will be a variety show lifting spirits with comedy at the Regional Mental Health Care Facility. Workers are needed to setup, cleanup and mingle with the attendees. Hockey Clinic / GameTimken Arena will have approximately 100 kids attend a free hockey clinic and game. (Workers need Plan to Protect, and recommendations.) Kids ExtravaganzaA fun-filled afternoon for the entire family at Pinafore Park. Drama, games, music, draws and a free BBQ will express Christ's love and renewed Hope. (Volunteers must be prescreened, recommended and have a current police check.) Youth ConcertTwo bands have been booked to perform their music and reach out to the youth of St. Thomas. Basketball TournamentThis event is for young people, and details are still being formulated. Two other teams will stay onsite at St. Joe's for the afternoon: The Martha TeamSets up, prepares, and makes a banquet supper for the people of St. Thomas. We are preparing to serve about 400 people at 5:30PM. Attendees will hear the gospel in music and testimony. Maury Blair will be with us. We need many to be involved with the Martha Team. The Mary TeamThe chapel of the high school will be where this team meets to intercede all afternoon for the events of the day. |
