6. Jesus... as revealed as THE standard of excellence

These 6 core values are reflected in our core-value scripture:

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the Gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted. To proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD." (Luke 4:18-19 NKJV)

The purpose of the 6 core values of STPA is to keep ourselves aligned with the Word of God and be recipients of the blessings of serving Jesus.

"For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to him. In this you have done foolishly; therefore from now on you shall have wars." (2 Chronicles 16:9 NKJV)

II. The Core Values

1. Jesus... as revealed as THE Saviour

Because Jesus is revealed as THE Saviour, we believe:

1. All people are indeed spiritually lost and need "a" Saviour.

2. There is ONLY one Saviour... that is the Lord Jesus Christ. As a core value we must point people towards THE Saviour first... not STPA and not the pastor. JESUS must be central, for HE is the Saviour.

3. STPA must function as an outreach center to lost people. How we spend our money, our programs, our emphasis, our time, our energy MUST point towards this core value.

4. All people are therefore important, regardless of creed, colour, social status or sex, as Jesus is revealed as the Saviour of lost humanity.

5. STPA must win the lost at all costs. Costs, time, money and effort must be measured by success in winning lost people.

2. Jesus... as revealed as THE Healer

Because Jesus is revealed as THE Healer, we believe:

1. That it is Jesus' perfect will to heal the sick.

2. That STPA will believe, practice, preach and encourage Divine Healing in services and private homes.

3. That Jesus wants his people to be whole: body, soul and spirit!

3. Jesus... as revealed as THE Baptizer

Because Jesus is revealed as THE Baptizer, we believe:

1. We will believe, practice, preach and encourage the Baptism of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues.

2. We believe the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gateway to other gifts of the Spirit as described in the Bible.

4. Jesus... as revealed as THE Deliverer

Because Jesus is revealed as THE Deliverer, we believe:

1. Jesus came to set the captive free.

2. Sin, sinful life-choices, and the world can, and usually do, produce bondages upon people, that must be healed and broken.

3. We will believe, practice, preach and encourage deliverance in people's minds, hearts, souls and bodies.

5. Jesus... as revealed as THE Soon coming King

Because Jesus is revealed as THE Soon coming King, we believe:

1. We understand kingdom theology to mean that STPA is NOT the kingdom, just a part of a greater Kingdom.

2. We are called to obey the admonitions of scripture in the light of His soon return (some of those being watchfulness, gentleness, diligence, etc.)

6. Jesus... as revealed as THE standard of excellence

Because Jesus is revealed as THE standard of excellence, we believe:

1. Integrity and character are the most important qualities STPA church members can attain and walk in.

2. STPA must function financially, in a business sense, with utmost propriety, honesty and trustworthiness.

3. STPA facilities, activities, efforts and agendas, must reflect a standard of excellence, worthy of being Christ's representative in the city of St. Thomas.
